You Can't Out Give God

Tithing

Tithing is an act of worship that reflects a believer’s trust in God as the true provider of all we have. Throughout Scripture, giving the first portion back to the Lord is a way of acknowledging that everything belongs to Him and that our lives are meant to be stewarded for His purposes (Proverbs 3:9–10; Malachi 3:10). When believers tithe, they participate in God’s work through the local church—supporting ministry, caring for people, and advancing the gospel. More than a financial practice, tithing shapes our hearts, loosening our grip on possessions and strengthening our faith as we learn to depend on God’s faithfulness (Matthew 6:21; 2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

Grace tithes as well, a number of years ago we made a decision to give 10% of unpreferenced contributions to other ministry endeavors outside of GBC. This is allocated as 5% to missions, 1% to benevolence, 2% to Christian ministry and 2% to The Grace Center.

Generosity

While tithing teaches us to honor God with the first portion of what He has given, generosity invites believers to go even further by giving freely and joyfully beyond what is required. Scripture calls followers of Jesus to live open-handed lives, recognizing that everything we have ultimately belongs to God (Psalm 24:1). Generosity reflects the heart of Christ, who gave sacrificially for us, and it allows believers to participate in meeting needs, supporting the mission of the church, and caring for others in tangible ways. As we give willingly and cheerfully, our generosity becomes both an expression of gratitude to God and a powerful way to demonstrate His love to the world (2 Corinthians 9:7–8; Acts 20:35).

Ways to Give

Contributions are bestowed with the understanding that Grace Bible Church has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds in accordance with our by-laws. GBC will attempt to honor gifts preferenced to support particular ministry programs or projects, but the final decision on the use of all funds rests with the organization.

Recent Giving Impacts

At Grace, one of our core values is to live generously and because of your financial support, Grace has been able to impact communities in various ways. Recently, we were able to:

  • Pay off nearly half of GBC’s mortgage on the new property off Midway and Lake Lowell.
  • Provide school scholarships to assist recipients and promote higher Christian education in the Treasure Valley.
  • Furnish supplies for VBS and work trips to Romania and Mexico in conjunction with mission trips to assist orphanages at each locale.
  • Give additional support for Missons partners’ special projects such as a car for the Browns, a leadership conference opportunity for the Plateros, and a Shepherds Global Classroom translation into Hindi for Christians in India.
  • Support coaches for a Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ “Time Out,” a marriage ministry designed to help coaches and spouses win where it matters most.
  • Aid a Pastors Collective Retreat in South Carolina designed for ministry leaders to learn to be well so they can build well.
  • Hold a Quizzing program where children learn scripture and compete as a team against other local churches, and where our team won first place again this year.
  • Offer a new format for our Wave Camp where over 150 youth experienced an environment where they can hear God’s voice and learn from experts on relevant issues such as mental health, identity, relationships, and life direction.
